Lots of new functionality and fixes when we upgrade Sierra on Tuesday morning. Here are some of the highlights.
Sierra passwords
Sierra passwords will be required to be 8 characters. This will be enforced when a user changes their password.
Cancelled holds
You can create a new hold from the Cancelled Holds table and put the hold at the end of the hold queue or in order by the original hold placed date.
Copy and paste MARC fields
You can copy an entire field including MARC fields and subfields to the clipboard for pasting
Find text within record
You can use keyboard shortcuts to find text within a record (under Edit> Find).
Sierra web supports 30 concurrent users
The number of concurrent users of Sierra web increases from 5 to 30.
Easier Sierra insallation
The Sierra installation and download page simplifies the installation process
Sierra PINs support punctuation
Patrons using barcode and PIN authentication can now add punctuation in their PINS
Scheduler export
Scheduler can export the same fields as Create Lists
Create Lists default view
Each user can set their own default view in Create Lists
Security updates
SIP2 supports encrypted connections
This will allow us to increase the security of our self-check machines by connecting to Sierra via a ‘stunnel’.
Increased encryption of Sierra desktop
We can configure Sierra to use a ‘stunnel’ for increased security.
HTTPS for web management reports
Web management reports wil load on a secure connection
Privacy policy for WebPAC
We can add a privacy notice to the WebPAC (Library Account)
Forced HTTPS for WebPac
You can force WebPac to use HTTPS. Up to now HTTPS has been allowed but we could not force HTTPS access.
Bug fixes
WAM proxy 502 errors
No more 502 upstream proxy errors when accessing databases via WAM. Yay!
Incorrect barcode in Sierra Offline Circ log
The last 2 digits of the barcode were repeated in the offline circ report.
Data Exchange export
Fixed the problem where you can’t export if there were only 1 or 2 records in the review file to output.
